Orthrus

Description

The Orthrus is a double-headed beast. We took our powerful MDX extruder and mated it with our Dual Action Filament Runout Sensor to make an all-in-one unit. Boasting a 9.5:1 gear ratio and dual 18mm hobbed drive gears in series, this extruder provides plenty of torque and even more grip for extra pushing power. The dual action sensor not only detects when the filament pulls through and runs out, but also if the end of the filament is bent (or has tape on it), gets caught on the inlet, and stops feeding. With the proper length PTFE tube on the inlet, this sensor can also detect if there is a tangle on the spool.

This extruder/filament sensor combo can be used as direct drive, a Bowden setup, or as a feeder extruder for direct drive.
